If the two scriptures I have in mind about him not desiring anyone to die, and drawing those he wants to be his people, how come he draws so very, very few, especially in the Western world? It's like he hardly wants anyone, judging by the one or two he "draws" into U.K congregations every couple of years. #Confused

Russian Ban exposed but not THE ARC...WHY?
by tor1500 injust your thoughts....i've been all over this site, everyone says, that if jehovah was backing the org.
then why so many things happen in the org.
child abuse, shunning, and so on....but my question or thought is why is the banning of witnesses all over the media, but the arc isn't wasn't picked up in the media, like this (oh little leaks here and there, but nothing major) nothing like the nyt or any major media venue where the friends would see it and couldn't deny it, even if they wanted to....why does the media care more about banning witnesses than child abuse...i know even if the arc was exposed many of the friends would stay, but would be shamed, because they talked about other religions...or maybe jehovah is bringing the org.

UK Memorial attendances up this year?!
by Isambard Crater inmy congregation had around 25 more people at the memorial last night than last year, and the two other congregations i have family in all experienced a similar increase in about 25 more people present.
umm, i'm surprised, having thought this year would see a memorial decline again.
and i'm kind of disappointed..

I was just hoping news like the ARC would have put lots of people off going to the Memorial this year, but clearly it's had no impact at all.

I hear you about world events, but if stuff like Russia and Syria happen every year from now on, memorial attendances will keep rising, leading J.W's to keep saying the end now really is so very near.
My congregation doesn't share so we just had it at the normal time, but my grandparents' congregation shares with another and they tell me both of them, even the late shift, had record numbers.

I'm 90% PIMO but events in Russia made me stop and think maybe Jehovah is real and helping
by Isambard Crater ini'm at the stage where i'd love a big scandal to come along showing clearly that the j.w's are not the true religion, but sometimes i get touched inside by various thoughts or events, the russian court trial being one of them.. i mean, j.w's are understandably fixated with attending the memorial, so why didn't the court say it will resume on monday or tuesday, instead setting wednesday 12 april as the date?
part of me believes the comments from pro-j.w's that jehovah moved events so they could attend the memorial.. it seems the j.w's will not be banned, which makes my mind and heart wrestle between thinking jah's behind it, or maybe the ministry of justice is just woefully prepared compared to the superb australian royal commission team who did their homework.
it surprises me the russians seemingly haven't done any homework..

I agree on reflection that a mass crumbling of the J.W religion because all 8m+ members suddenly realise it's all rubbish wouldn't be a good thing mentally or socially for so many current believers, as it's all they've got.
It's ruining my life, though, their policies negatively affecting the present and future for my unbelieving husband and I, and on a more trivial scale meaning we only ever have about 40% of our weekends to enjoy ourselves, as I've got to waste 3 hours every Sunday at the afternoon meeting.
The main reason I still go is because leaving would destroy my parents. I know it's "their problem" but I don't want to cause any hurt to them, so I guess this is why, amidst my occasional silly 'it could actually be the truth still' moments, I would love for a huge scandal to rock the bOrg so badly that my parents see sense. My 72-year-old Father has been involved with cases of child abuse in the past, but these days seems to think, act and speak like the sun shine's out of the bOrg's ass, so I assume the ARC has had no impact on his feelings/attitude at all, sadly.

Has Anyone Ever Just Gotten Mad and "Popped" an Elder?
by Cold Steel init has to have happened.
people get stressed out, an elder or overseer takes just two steps over the line and gets a fat lip for his trouble.. does that ever happen?
or maybe someone "counsels" a brother at the wrong time and tempers flare at the old kingdom hall?.

Over the years, I have heard elders snap at each other on occasion, yup. Also, when my Cousin was about 16, she was slapped on the face by a Circuit Overseer's wife due to a mis-understanding.

I know, guys... I really do want to fully separate from the religion A.S.A.P, at least in a PIMO way, but having been raised in it and all that, I sometimes get these 'oh, wait a second; maybe...' moments. That's why I appreciate your support on the forum.

Very interesting radio programme on what truth is
by Isambard Crater inan excellent listen, talking about jesus' reply to pilate when he rhetorically asked 'what is truth?
', on how religions shape truth, on subjective and objective truth, and what propaganda is - which ties in nicely with july's watchtower article on it:.
